During the whole month of May in music class, PK & Kinder will practice their end of the year songs. 8th Grade students will spend time practicing their graduation songs. As an ongoing task, all classes from 3rd to 8th grade will spend time learning/reviewing new and old music theory concepts related to symbols such as staff, 4-beat pattern and counting whole, half, quarter, eighth, and sixteenth notes and rests. As time permits, during these two weeks students will learn/review about the concepts of pitch, intonation, rhythm, tempo and dynamics. Students from 3rd grade and up will review the C scale and solfeggio system (Do, Re Mi...,) Students on that same grade level range will be introduced to songwriting basics. Different activities on each of these objectives will be assessed -including classwork, homework, quizzes and tests until the end of the 4th Quarter, including vocal/instrumental responses.

Elementary School: 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade

The C Scale and music keyboard note ID. Introduction to solfeggio system and basics of songwriting.

Middle School: 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade

The C Scale and music keyboard note ID. Introduction to solfeggio system and basics of songwriting.

All Grade Levels

Apply newly acquired and old vocal/instrumental skills on bells, drums, Orff and hand percussion instruments to the performing style of the songs included in school masses.

Implement pre-mid-post assessment activities including a diversity of questioning, exit tickets, quizzes, testing grade evaluations, and music performing tasks related to the objectives.
