January, 2020/Music Class Contents

There will be two main activities during January, 2020, in music class: Preparation for the next two First Friday masses --January 10 & February 7. Also, preparation for 8th Grade Sacrament of Confirmation mass --January 18. Additionally, as an ongoing task, all classes from Kinder to 8th grade will spend time learning/reviewing music theory concepts including note ID and basic rhythms. Different activities on each of these objectives will be assessed, including vocal/instrumental responses, classwork, homework, quizzes and tests until the end of the 3rd Quarter.

PK, Kinder, 1st and 2nd Grade

PK - Kinder will practice --as much as possible-- songs for the upcoming school masses. Also basic elements of music theory.

Elementary School: 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade

Classes will practice --as much as possible-- songs for the upcoming school masses. Also, learn/review/reinforce new and old music theory concepts.

Middle School: 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade

Classes will practice --as much as possible-- songs for the upcoming school masses. Also, learn/review/reinforce new and old music theory concepts.

All Grade Levels

Apply newly acquired, and reinforce, old vocal/instrumental skills on bells, drums, Orff and hand percussion instruments to the performing style of the songs included in school masses.

Implement pre-mid-post assessment activities including a diversity of questioning, exit tickets, quizzes, testing grade evaluations, and music performing tasks related to the objectives.
