Beginning on the week of February 4, SAS students from Kinder to 8th grade levels will start practicing during music class the songs for the next First Friday School Mass scheduled on 03.01.19, and also Ash Wednesday Mass on 03.06.19. At the same time all classes from PK2 to 8th grade will spend time learning/reviewing new and old music theory concepts related to symbols such as staff, 4-beat pattern and counting whole, half & quarter notes and rests. Students from 3rd grade and up will continue to drill the simple straight 4-beat pattern, and also create/clap or play their own patterns. Different activities on each of these objectives will be assessed -including classwork, homework, quizzes and tests until the end of the 3rd Quarter, including vocal/instrumental responses.

PK, Kinder, 1st and 2nd Grade

Sing/Play all school mass songs included in the 3rd quarter. Count and play 4-beat rhythm patterns.

Elementary School: 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade

Sing/Play all school mass songs included in the 3rd quarter. Count and play 4-beat rhythm patterns. Drill straight 4-beat pattern at the drums.

Middle School: 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade

Sing/Play all school mass songs included in the 3rd quarter. Count and play 4-beat rhythm patterns. Drill straight 4-beat pattern at the drums.

All Grade Levels

Apply newly acquired and old vocal/instrumental skills on bells, drums, Orff and hand percussion instruments to the performing style of the songs included in school masses.

All Grade Levels

Implement pre-mid-post assessment activities including a diversity of questioning, exit tickets, quizzes, testing grade evaluations, and music performing tasks related to the objectives.
