During the last part of Third Quarter the first two week of March, all classes from 3rd to 8th grade levels will continue reviewing and reinforcing whole, half and quarter notes and rests. MS students are also expected to have mastered rhythm exercises including quarter and, -tentative-, eighth notes and rests.
During March, vocal and instrumental responses in music class will include singing/playing April 7th All-School Mass songs. This mass' song lineup includes "Above All," "Lord, Let Me Walk," "You Were On The Cross," "Oceans," "God Of This City."
As time permits, all students from 3rd grade to middle school levels will celebrate the life and work of the great Baroque period German composer Johann Sebastian Bach by completing short written assignments about him.
As time permits 4th to 8th grade classes will celebrate Black History month by viewing video clips, answering questions, researching and making presentations about distinguished Black American musicians and singers such as Scott Joplin, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Whitney Huston; and R&B bands such as Earth, Find and Fire. Kool and the Gang, and others.
